Joey Halzle is a former American football quarterback who played for the University of Oklahoma and the University of Akron. He was born on October 18, 1985, in Odessa, Texas. Halzle began his college football career at Oklahoma in 2004, where he served as a backup to Heisman Trophy winner Jason White.
Halzle saw limited playing time during his first two seasons at Oklahoma but had a breakout game in 2006 when he passed for 291 yards and two touchdowns in a victory over Washington. He later transferred to the University of Akron, where he played his final two seasons of college football.
After his college career, Halzle went undrafted in the NFL but signed with the San Diego Chargers as a free agent in 2009. He was released in the final roster cuts before the regular season began. Halzle also spent time with the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena Football League.
Overall, Joey Halzle had a successful college football career and showed promise as a quarterback at both the Division I and professional levels.
